You Can Save Money

Estimates of electrical energy saving provided by an intelliplug used with a typical desktop PC installation.

Energy saved by Intelliplug in 24 hour duty cycle = (Total standby Power of peripheral equipment - Standby Power of IMP) X 18 /1000 kWh (Where average use of PC is 6 hours per. day)

For a PC rig with peripherals consisting of two powered loudspeakers, a printer and a scanner, The energy saved daily is (14 - 0.47) 18 /1000 kWh = 0.24 kWh

The energy saved annually assuming 350 days average use is (0.24 x 350) kWh = 84 kWh

The energy saved over the lifespan of the IMP is (15 x 84) kWh = 1260 kWh

For this PC rig operated with a typical self powered broadband modem, the energy saved daily is (17 - 0.47) 18 /1000kWh = 0.30 kWh

The energy saved annually is (0.30 x 350) kWh = 105 kWh

The energy saved over the lifespan of the IMP is (105 x 15) kWh = 1575 kWh

An additional 330 kWh may be added to the above lifespan energy saving estimates if an Intelliplug slave socket controls the PC monitor power. This is based on the following calculation for an average monitor standby power requirement of 3.5 W (DEFRA MTP Database)

Energy saved daily by IMP driving the monitor is (3.5) 18 / 1000 kWh = 0.063 kWh

The energy saved annually is (0.063 x 350) kWh = 22.05 kWh

The energy saved over the lifespan of the IMP is (22.05 x15) kWh = 330.75kWh
